12 Weeks with Quads

The Dr. Visit: We had our third Perinatal (High risk pregnancy specialist) visit today. We had an ultrasound they measured the babies and the heart rates, they did not give me the cm this time sorry. The stats are as follows:

Baby A: Heart rates - 157 beats per minute (bpm), measures the size of a 12 week 3 day fetus.

Baby B: Heart rate - 141 bpm, measures the size of a 13 week fetus - this is the big one

Baby C: Heart rate - 146 bpm, measures the size of a 12 week 5 day fetus

Baby D: Heart rate - 160 bpm, measures the size of a 12 week fetus - Still the little one.

Baby D seemed to be the stubborn one. They kept trying to measure and he wouldn't move or would roll over to his side like he was saying leave me alone. (We do not know if they are boys are girls I just hate to say it and I think D is a boy)

They did a Nuchal translucency screening on the babies, measuring fluid behind the neck it helps to asses the risk of the babies having Down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major congenital heart problems. They want them to measure under 3mm and all were under 1.4mm, they will do it again at 20 weeks and want them to measure under 6mm, so that was good!! I think it catches the problems with 80% accuracy!! :)

How I am feeling: I have been feeling good, except I have bad acid reflux. I actually have energy. Oh and a little upset that I am 35 and considered advanced maternal age, they said that they list it as elderly pregnant on some paperwork. I am quite certain a man wrote that.

The Doctor said to keep up with my normal activities, no restrictions yet. I can still carry Olivia around. I go back in 2 weeks it will be a quick appointment so they will just be seeing if all the babies are there and not doing measurements of the babies, they will measure my cervix though, ughhh.

10 Weeks with Quads

The Dr. Visit: We had our Second Perinatal (High risk pregnancy specialist) visit today. We had an ultrasound they measured the babies and the heart rates.

The stats are as follows:

Baby A: Heart rates - 172 beats per minute (bpm), measures 3.67 cm (the size of an 10 week 4 day fetus)

Baby B: Heart rate - 170 bpm, measures 3.74 cm (the size of an 10 week 5 day fetus)

Baby C: Heart rate - 172 bpm, measures 3.53 cm (the size of an 10 week 4 day fetus)

Baby D: Heart rate - 181 bpm, measures 3.02 cm (the size of a 10 week fetus) - Still the little one.

The doctor was very positive and answered all of our questions. All of the baby's measured well, I was exactly 10 weeks today so most are big which is really good!!

It was very cool to see the babies today. Baby A is like big sister Alexis moving around alot. Baby C is hanging out upside down. We could see arms and legs, some of the baby's hiccupped. I could not keep straight who was who, good thing the Ultrasound tech knew what was going on.
We go back in 2 weeks for another appointment and will have an ultrasound at each one. It is the only way to tell if everyone is still hanging in there.

How I am feeling: I have been feeling pretty good. Less tired and not so nauseous, I am not super hungry but have been able to actually eat!! :) We are thinking positive and praying. Maybe I feel so good because our church started praying for us last Sunday.

8 Weeks with Quads

The Dr. Visit: We had our first Perinatal (High risk pregnancy specialist) visit today. We had an ultrasound they measured the babies and the heart rates. The stats are as follows:

Baby A: Heart rates - 167 beats per minute (bpm), measures 1.76 cm (the size of an 8 week 2 day fetus)

Baby B: Heart rate - 169 bpm, measures 1.69 cm (the size of an 8 week 1 day fetus)

Baby C: Heart rate - 170 bpm, measures 1.77 cm (the size of an 8 week 2 day fetus)

Baby D: Heart rate - 174 bpm, measures 1.34 cm (the size of a 7 week 5 day fetus)

Baby D is smaller so they are going to watch that one a little closer. The Dr. said that since I have had 2 babies all ready that it works in my favor for carrying these guys longer. I asked how early someone with Quads goes on bed rest, generally around 18 weeks, (10 weeks of freedom left), but since I have had 2 babies there is a good chance that most or all of the bed rest time will be at home!! :) Everything looked good today.

How I am feeling: I have been feeling nauseous and very tired. Not hungry at all and have only gained 1 pond according to my home scale. I have also been feeling short of breath, Dr. said that the shortness of breath is completely normal and not to worry, my body is working hard growing 4 babies. I am good spirits, a little less in shock and a little more excited.

7 Weeks Pregnant with Quads!!!!!!

The Appointment: So we went in for our ultrasound. We had high numbers on our blood test, the test showed we were still in the range for just 1 but it could be more than 1. So the Dr. was quite and looking for the baby, I was starting to think "Oh my gosh he can't find the baby". The Dr. said " I see 4 sacks" I sad "What??!!" then he said "Let's see if there is somebody in each of the sacks." Then 1 by 1 we saw each baby and each tiny little heart beating. He referred us to a specialist.

How I am feeling: At least now I know why I have been so darn tired. Just exhausted, also feeling queezy, ughh I hate that feeling. Other than that I feel pretty good, not much different than with Olivia (my second baby), I also think I look like I did with my second pregnancy at this point.
